Southern Province · fort town
Galle
A UNESCO-listed Dutch fort on the southern coast — ramparts, lanes, cafés and the best-preserved colonial town in Asia.
Hill-country town, Uva Province → Fort town, southern coast
A private transfer from the hill country to Galle Fort, crossing the island from tea estates to the ramparts of the old Dutch town.
The journey
This is a longer crossing, so the day is built around two or three good stops rather than a single push. The road leaves Ella through the dry south-east, then meets the coast road and runs west into Galle. Because the car is private, we can break the journey at the Yala junction, at a coastal town for lunch, or at Unawatuna if you want to see the sea before you arrive.
This route runs in both directions. Travelling the other way — Galle to Ella — uses the same vehicle options and the same pricing approach.
Along the way
An early start and a proper lunch stop make this a pleasant day rather than a slog. Tell us your check-in time and we will work backwards from it.

FAQ
It is a long day but very doable with proper stops. If your schedule allows, breaking it at Yala or Mirissa makes the driving much more relaxed — we can plan that as two legs or as part of a multi-day tour.
Yes. We can drop you in Galle and either arrange a separate pickup or keep the vehicle with you as part of a multi-day tour. Tell us which you prefer when you enquire.
The airport road back is simple and quick by comparison — around two to two and a half hours from Galle. Many guests combine the Galle drop with an onward airport transfer on departure day.
