Sigiriya
A 5th-century rock fortress rising about 200 m above the jungle, and the most iconic single sight in Sri Lanka.
International airport, Katunayake → Ancient rock fortress, Cultural Triangle
A private transfer from Colombo Airport into the Cultural Triangle, putting you at the foot of Sigiriya rock in a single drive.
The journey
The route runs inland through the coconut belt and up toward Dambulla, then short hops to Sigiriya. It is a long but interesting first drive: flat farmland and roadside markets give way to dry-zone scrub, with the rock itself appearing on the horizon near the end. Climbing Sigiriya in the middle of a travel day is not wise, so most guests arrive, settle in, and save the climb for the morning.
This route runs in both directions. Travelling the other way — Sigiriya to Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) — uses the same vehicle options and the same pricing approach.
Along the way
Dambulla is the natural stop and fits within the day without rushing. If your flight lands early, we can add Pinnawala or a Kandy detour — though that makes for a long day, and we will say so.

FAQ
We advise against it. Unless you land early, arriving at your hotel and climbing the next morning is far more comfortable — the rock is exposed and the heat peaks in the middle of the day.
Yes, Dambulla is on the route and the cave temples take about an hour including the short climb. It is one of the better stops on this transfer.
It works well as an opening leg: a comfortable private car, an easy first afternoon and one of the island's most memorable views the following morning. Tell us your dates and we will suggest a route from here.
